Artist statement
Since first being introduced to glass casting, and being seduced by the qualities and possibilities of glass making. I have been inspired to create forms that use the natural qualities of glass, its translucency and colour saturation and density. The way it bends distorts and refracts light, creating a dynamic energy between colour and form.
My work is inspired by the way light effects natural and architectural space. Illuminating or creating forms and colour, through its interaction with the environment or structure. Sometimes creating its own shapes and forms through, reflection and refraction within the atmosphere or structural space.
Exploring how this affects our personal response to the space or environment we inhabit and how we experience and reflect upon ourselves within these spaces. This is expressed through, the use of the curves, angles and space within the glass. The relationship of the interior and exterior structure of each piece and how these modulate light within each piece. To invoke a response to these minimal forms.
